The first time I updated my PS3 was via a thumbdrive (which had the update downloaded via my PC) that I plugged into one of the PS3's USB ports. You have to do this when changing HDDs in a lot of PS3firmware required for the game is bundled with the game.
i know this for a fact as i didn't game online with my ps3 for about 6 months and everytime i popped a new game in that required an updated firmware it would install it from the firmware required for the game is bundled with the game.
I know about the 9.6 encryption but I thought cryptofixing (recompiling the game after decrypting it) solved that issue. what are you doing still buying games on a 9.2 3DS lol?
The Wii system software is a set of updatable firmware versions and a software frontend on the Wii video game console.
I have DSL and it cost less than cable and the speed is very stable unlike cable that can variey during the day when people are useing it more for TV and internet service. Some times if there is a very important update then the system will not allow you to play games until you do the update but if you are not connected to the internet, i'm not sure this would happen A flash drive works better than a disc to install updates to a PS3.
